Coca-Cola drops “Classic”

While not a main component of the “Coca-Cola” brand name, the cola company has decided to drop the “Classic” nameplate attached to its flagship soda. The tagline – which can be seen directly under the script Coca-Cola logo – was added in 1985 after the company introduced a new formula known at the time as “New Coke” by consumers.

However, the “Classic” distinction won’t be completely gone. It will still be used in the phrase “Coke Classic Original Formula” in a less prominent way.

The change will show up nationwide during the first part of this year.
